The Gregory Awards
Awards season is coming up, starting with the largest annual ceremony for live theatre in Seattle! I’ve been nominated for a People’s Choice Award, and some incredibly gracious comments about The White Snake have been submitted by anonymous Gregory Awards Nominators:
“Yena Han really made Green Snake come alive — she made her relationship with White Snake crystal clear and brought so much humor to the role!”
“Such fantastic charm and charisma!”
“Yena Han’s performance completely elevated the material. She was glorious and transcendent.”
“Stand out performance! Such charisma and truly made this role their own. Excited to see more of this actor!”
Catch me in my opera debut playing Monterone’s Daughter in Rigoletto! This classic tale by Verdi is one of the most popular operas, and Seattle Opera’s production is running from August 10th-28th in the 2,900-seat McCaw Hall theater.
Although the depiction of women’s agency (or lack thereof) in the story may seem incredulous to modern audiences, director Lindy Hume has made sound artistic choices that connect to issues in the Me Too era, highlight the humor in the music, and emphasize how the patriarchy often treats women carelessly… until the men realize they are perpetuating the same culture that abuses their daughters.
Watch the trailer here and check for discounted rush tickets below. Seattle Opera strives to make opera accessible for everyone, and offers tickets starting at $25 for students, artists, and seniors.

White Snake Reviews
The White Snake is in its final weekend of performances, and both children and critics alike have been enchanted by its myth and magic. One reviewer even goes so far as to say she left the theatre “feeling like [she] had been born again.” Don’t miss your final opportunity to catch this dazzling production!
“Yena Han’s character of Greenie stole the show every time she was onstage. She was funny and cunning, the perfect best friend and sidekick who saves the day whenever necessary, landing her jokes with every beat, and supporting Lady Bai and Xu Xian until the very end.” -KXSU

“Alternately funny and pugnacious (sometimes both), her facial expressions and comic timing alone are worth the price of admission, holding the fuzzy fairy-tale logic of the plot together.” -The Seattle Times

The White Snake
The White Snake by Mary Zimmerman is making its Seattle debut at 12th Avenue Arts! After a wildly successful run at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and the Old Globe, ReAct Theatre is excited to bring this gorgeous Chinese fairytale to the Pacific Northwest. Directed by David Hsieh, this show features an all-Asian cast for the first time in the history of this production.
I will be playing Green Snake, White Snake’s sassy companion. The show is kid-friendly, but adults will also recognize more mature themes grappling with Eastern philosophy and the challenge of revealing one’s true self in a new relationship.
After a ten year hiatus from Studio East, I’m excited to return to the drama school I spent my childhood taking classes and performing at - but this time, as a teaching artist! During the summer of 2018, I directed and choreographed productions such as Beauty and the Beast and The Hobbit for middle and high school students. Currently, I’m coaching scenes and monologues in Acting II, an intermediate scene study class.
Located in Kirkland, WA, Studio East is the number one performing arts program on the Eastside. If your child is interested in taking classes or auditioning for shows, you can find more information at their main website, or message me for updates about my classes and one-on-one coaching opportunities.

Heathers: The Musical
Casting update! I will be playing Heather McNamara in Heathers, a musical adaptation of the 1988 cult classic film. Pullman.vs.Paxton, a musical theatre company in Seattle known for producing edgy, contemporary musicals, aims to capture the movie's black comedy with a whole lot of 80s costumes, iconic one-liners, and rock 'n' roll. Check out the promo video here.
Heathers will be opening April 6th and running for two weekends only at the Erickson Theatre Off Broadway in Capitol Hill, and the majority of the proceeds will go to the It Gets Better Project to support LGBTQ youth.
